Oh Kyrgz, you so fine, you so fine you blow my mind, oh kyrgz..

Brief update today as it is hot and bleugh here in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Since we last spoke, Adam & I have travelled through Kyrgzstan and out the other side. To be honest i don't think either of us really wanted to leave! Our first campsite there was on a hill looking over a valley full of poppy fields, beautiful.

We then drove up the country through some amazing mountain scenery - which i think ads is uploading pictures of now - .. and were able to make snowmen and have a snowball fight at aprox 3000m at 3.9oc brrrr. i don't think either of us expected to be doing that on our adventure. From there we tried, sadly in vain, to get up to Lake Song koll, but the mountain pass was still snowed in, so we headed back down the valley and headed on to lake Issy Kol, the 2nd largest of it's kind in the world or some such guff. We were not impressed, and i know how that may come across but we were expecting something a bit different to what we found. anyhoo we decided against driving around the whole thing as it is 170k long and 70k wide, and headed back to a lovely deserted lake where we made camp for a day. Fun times!!

Our last night in the wonderful beautiful Kyrgzstan was spent halfway up a mountain in a Yurt with a lady called Ianora & her husband Chanai. OmG!!! we were spoiled!! on arrival a huge pot of tea with freshly baked bread, home-made apricot & blackcurrant jam and freshly made cream! Ianora sat with us and as she spoke some english we had fun trying to understand each other. for lunch there was a lovley white cabbage & dill coleslaw, followed by 3 fried eggs - yeay! then for evening meal we had a delicious noodles soup mmm slurping is polite you know although i nearly had hysterics when our host belched at the table :o)
After a very chilly nite in the lovely yurt we were presented with breakfast, place your bets as to what it was... go on, try......

No you're all wrong it was a huge bowl of lumpy mashed potato!!

we then took the horses out with Chanai for a ride up the mountain. It even snowed a little!! :o)
Finally managed to get hold of my mum on the phone the next day too, which made me happy & i hope went some way towards reassuring her that we are happy & having a fantastic time.

I shall sign off now from a muggy Almaty, where all the hotel rooms are booked due to some football match - and i guess this could be it from me now till Ulaan Bataar.... So wish us well in our treck across Mongolia.....and feel free to donate us some beer money so we can rip it up when we get there :oP xxx
